Marram House Southwold Reviews

Meg
An ideal large house for a 3 generational family holiday, comfortable rather than posh.
Kathleen
We have stayed at Marram House before & intend booking for the same week next year from Friday 21st July to Friday 7th August.2026. We have a small property ourselves in Marlborough Road, where my husband prefers to stay. he finds the younger grandchildren rather noisy. We intend to book the week of Friday 21st August to Friday 7th August 2026 so we'd recommend Marram House to anyone as long as it doesn't fall during 'our' week!
Kevin
A very roomy and sociable house in a great location. Could do with a bit of TLC.
Jenni
House was in poor state, dirty especially oven which we couldn't use it was so bad, dog muck in garden not cleared up. Heating kept locking out and no emergency contacts as what out of hours. Lack of instructions on how to use items such as heating, aga, etc. Curtains stained and not hanging properly on poles. Chipped crockery. Needed a good deep clean. Location was good. Wouldn't recommend the cottage or the company. I would not knowingly book with this cottage company or one of its subsidiaries (knowingly as there are so many of them) due to damage deposit scam they have going. £500 returnable but they need it 8-9 weeks in advance - why should it sit in the company's account making money? or £60 you don't get back. How much money are you making out of holiday makers?
Richard
13 of us had a nice stay at the end of February. The house was big enough and had everything that we needed. Plus the location is great. As others have said, the house could do with redecoration in places, and a lot of the furniture is old. But it didnâ??t stop us having a nice stay. The two bedrooms on the top floor are very cold. Plug in heaters were provided.
Debra
What a beautiful house that just needs a bit of TLC. So many old features in the house which are wonderful. Location is brilliant for Southwold. We were a mixed family of 11 agreed 22 to 82 and a dog and had plenty of breakout space as well as space for us al to eat together and play games. Beds are comfy and bedrooms are clean. Plenty of towels provided. Was a little cold when we arrived but got the heating working and all was good. However the rooms on the top floor had no heating. There is a shower room with toilet and sink on the top floor. 1 en suite, 1 bathroom with a shower over it without a toilet and also a shower room with a toilet on the 1st floor and a washroom on the ground floor so the facilities are great. Would just say the ground floor it does need a little bit of a clean but nothing we felt would stop us booking again. A wonderful place to go with all the family
Albertine
Location is perfect and check in very easy. Overall the house is okay but we found ourselves without heating in a bathroom and bedroom as heaters provided did not work and we felt the furniture and kitchen supplies needed some tlc. Also a word of warning to people bringing pets, the garden is fenced but there must be a hole somewhere as our dog made his way to the street.
Stephen
Marram House is great for large families to holiday in, close to the pier, and not too far from the town and beach. Parking is not an issue. The house though and contents are looking old and worn. We stayed here a few years ago and much of the same fixtures and fittings are still there. The house needs a good make over if the same costs are to be charged.
Gregory
We really enjoyed our week at Marram House with ample space a family gathering. Conveniently close to the beach and the town centre. There is ample parking in the autumn. If there was a downside, the decor is beginning to become a bit tired which could easily be remedied.
Sue
Potentially a great place to stay. Maintenance issues currently are a disappointment.
Kathleen
Superb property and we ate outdoors most of the time. Ideally situated for both beach and town. Parking was occasionally difficult but parking in the driveway of Marram House meant allowed meant that one family member could park across the drive.
James
Great sized holiday home, perfect location for the pier and beach and only a 10 minute walk to the town . Wonderful holiday home for sharing with friends or extended family, beautiful views. Just in need of some TLC and finishing touches
Barbara
A great house for an extended family weekend - with a large dining kitchen where we could all sit down together. It has a ideal location - within walking distance of both the pier and the sandy beach.
Jeannette
We stayed at the same property last year and are pleased with the space and there is enough room to get away if needed. It is very convenient for both the beach and the town. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels for each room.
Claire
We have visited Marram House with friends & family for many years and enjoy the spacious rooms, particularly the kitchen with its large table. When we are not out walking we tend to spend most of our time around that table! We were disappointed this year that the aga was not working - hopefully it will be replaced before we come again.
Alec
Perfect house for families with dogs. Spacious and an amazing garden perfect for playing games in. The location was a short walk from the pier and beach.
