Stable Cottage Reviews

Tony was lovely very friendly and responsive! We were able to ask for help or clarify anything we needed as we weren't from the area. It is a budget holiday so you aren't going to get bells and whistles but you do get a really great break in a lovely, albeit slightly dated, space with most the necessities for what you pay, so it's worth it depending on your priorities at the time. I would suggest perhaps having a kitchen towel roll and a cleaning spray for tablessurfaces. Otherwise, getting your shopping delivered is handy and bring along your own fire wood as there wasn't any there but I didn't Tony for any to be fair as I did have my own, so there might have been some available had I asked. The stairs and additional mattress beds on the floor will not be suitable for taller or older people in my opinion just due to the logistics and size but our little ones were fine and loved it! Outside space is limited and exactly as you see in the pictures but there is lots to drive to if you've got a driver with you and it's all very beautiful indeed and I was even able to work from the bench outside with a cuppa as we were able to catch some lovely autumn sun. We were warm, cosy and away from the hustle & bustle of the city which is what we really wanted.
Jacqueline
Thankyou for a lovely stay at your cottage, very warm & comfortable. Everything we needed to make it a relaxing break & very dog friendly.
Amazing location. Stunning place. Host was there for anything needed. Im Certainly going again
Darren
A lovely relaxing retreat in a charming traditional cottage. The owners were friendly and accommodating. A spacious kitchendinning area and lounge. The kitchen is fully furnished with about every utensil you need. Off the beaten track, with country roads to walk your fourlegged friend for miles. Located In easy reach of many places to see. Fully enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
Perfect cottage in a fantastic rural location, with easy access to towns and beaches. Luckily we only used one of the upstairs bedrooms as steep stairs and low beds in 3rd bedroom but for our party it was everything we could wish for. Dogs loved it too. Host very friendly and welcoming.
Really lovely cosy little cottage. Perfectly rural and plenty of good dog walks surrounding. We visited Thetford forest and Holkham beach easily, both of which were very welcoming to our pups. Wonderful location and very welcoming owners, would happily stay here again.
Louisa
The cottage was fine.
Lovely looking cottage and the host is friendly and helpful. The only downside is the steep stairs it was made clear in the description that there would be steep stairs, however you dont realise just how steep until youre actually at the property. The upstairs bedrooms are not suited to very young children despite having a stair gate at the top of the stairs. It is not suited to old people either. My 2yr old and 7 month old had to stay in my room downstairs luckily the bedroom is more than big enough to accommodate us all but it was still far from ideal. I just simply couldnt carry my baby up and down the stairs and my 2 year old is too scared to go up and down by herself. I myself had to walk backwards to get down the stairs, and it was difficult getting up and down without holding the stair rail. My inlaws are in their 70s and they also struggled staying in the twin bedroom due to the stairs. Other than that we had a nice stay. The property is in need of a deep clean though. I have a habit of wiping everything down chairs, tables, handles etc when I stay somewhere due to my 2 year old touching everything in sight. The wipes were absolutely filthy by the time I was done wiping. There was a substantial amount of dust on shelves, wall art, ornaments etc. Cobwebs on bathroom ceiling. Overall not a bad place to stay, but requires a deep clean and only recommended for couples or families with older children.
The cooking facilities is perfect, kitchen perfect, living area cosy, comfortable, perfect. Bathroom perfect. Bedrooms perfect The whole place was just perfect

A very well laid out cottage, with plenty of room for everyone to relax. The kitchen was well equipped, and the beds were comfortable. Although tucked away, the cottage was a great base to explore the area from, and after slightly chilly days out, it was warm and cosy.
Thank you for a fantastic stay thoroughly clever use of the available space ... Thank you for a fantastic stay thoroughly clever use of the available space Only thing to be aware of is that there appears to be a wasp nest above the porch, we noticed them entering in the corner between the cottage garden and the first kitchen window
Thankyou we had a lovely holiday. Great dog friendly location . Good location with lovely country walks about 50 mins drive to the beach . The kitchen was well equiped for cooking and socialising , the lounge was very cosy. The stairs were a little steep but overall the barn was charming .
Thank you, we had a lovely stay. The cottage is beautiful, warm and cosy. The milk and tea and coffee on arrival was welcome before we unpacked. The surroundings are quite and peaceful, we thoroughly enjoyed our morning walks round the country lanes. The stairs took a bit of getting used to, banged my head a few times
Nicely kept rural cottage in a very nice setting. very curious ownercare taker. we enjoyed walks with extended family. the collection of cars in varying stages of restoration was an additional attraction. everything was perfect. The smallest of the beddings is worth mentioning in the listing, as it is extraordinarily constrained.

Stable Cottage is a Beautiful holiday let in gorgeous countryside. The owner was very lovely and helpful. It is however in need of a little updating. The bathroom particularly. There is also a dreadful problem with flies, which really should be addressed, and lots of fly spray provided until the problem resolved. Other than that , it honestly is a lovely place and we enjoyed our time there.
Location really remote thou relaxed. Main lounge good thou sofa badly torn.Kitchen excellent as was main bedroom.Bathroom brick floor not acceptable should be tiled.Upstairs access stairs debatable as to legality, especially with no light switch at lower hallway.
Genuinely beautiful building, but the stairs to the two bedrooms upstairs are challenging to manage, and I imagine not compliant with building regulations. Impossible with an infant in arms. The bathroom needs to be updated, old, tired, wonky loo seat, and unsuitable for the number of guests. The living and kitchen area are superb and downstairs bedroom good but creaky doors, floors, and stairs throughout. Kitchen equipment could do with deep cleaning. We battled with plagues of house flies, hundreds of them every day, every night, a real problem, windows and doors could do with fly screens, and other methods of control being made available Fly tapes, sprays etc it really was unpleasant. There is no way this property could accommodate 7 people as advertised, I booked for five, thankfully one could not make it, It was full at three adults and one infant
It was a shame about the plaque of flies inside the cottage. Ariel on radio was missing, which made it useless. The inside of the cottage was very nice and spacious downstairs.

It is a lovely place to stay. We enjoyed ourselves a lot at Stable Cottage and we will come back. The owner ist a warm hearted person, we will not forget. Thanks a lot for a nice holiday!
We really enjoyed our stay and Tony was a lovely, helpful host. Fresh eggs from the hens was a surprise bonus. The only drawback was the intermittent WiFi and tv signal, but we understand that if you are living in the remote countryside with lots of tall trees, thats to be expected. We would definitely recommend this place.
We were there last weekend and it is a really nice quiet place.
Graeme
Stable Cottage was perfect for us, four adults and our dog Milo. We loved the barn conversion and its beautiful setting and great location. The kitchen was also well equipped. Would love to return, thank you
Lovely stay in a lovely cottage.
Best holiday rental to date, great location, fabulous property, very well presented and kept to a high standard. The owners have thought of everything, couldnt want for more! A
The setting was lovely & quiet. The converted barn was really lovely. The 3rd bedroom was tiny more suitable for little children & not my teens who kept bumping their heads. The stairs up was steep & narrow. The kitchen was well equipped & there were fresh eggs to buy every day from the free roaming hens which was lovely. There was plenty of jot water but it was hot, & the shower mixer tap was tricky to use in order to get the temp right. We didn't expect to be so close to other rental cottages & hope our kids n dogs weren't you noisy for them. The location was v rural & we did lots of driving every day 5060 mins each way to reach places of interest beaches, country estates etc that were also suitable for dogs. The local supermarkets are large & about 10mins away in Swaffham. We had a really lovely time & a welcome break away from the craziness of our normal busy lives.
We had a lovely stay at stable cottage and was central to all the places we wanted to visit. Lovely setting and the kids loved visiting the horse and chickens each morning. The owner was friendly when we saw him and very much left us to our holiday. The cottage was lovely and as described, however it could really benefit from a second lavatory or an ensuite in the main bedroom as with 5 of us staying, one bathroomtoilet wasn't enough at times. The upstairs kids bedrooms would really benefit from some sort of blinds for the skylights as evenings and early mornings can be very bright. However these are just suggestions and didn't get in the way of enjoying our stay.
Steven
We had a lovely relaxing week at stable cottage. Dog friendly. A good base to go and visit the surrounding villagestowns and holkham beach a very dog friendly beach.
Claire
Amazing break away, lovely accommodation, everything we wanted. friendly, helpful owners made us feel very welcome. Will certainly be returning one day.
Nuttinee
Great cottage! The taxidermy owl was creepy though!
Andrew
Difficult access to location with single lane roads and few passing places particularly at night. Once had to back up over 200 metres to let a van through. Can't fault the property itself, lovely setting easy parking and great for dogs.
The house was very clean but lots of cobwebs and dust etc under the kitchen Radiator. Kitchen equipment was great had everything you needed. Could have done with some blinds in the up stairs bedrooms so as to block out sunlight which woke children early. Also, no animals to feed as stated in some of the reviews. Very remote so car is essential. Over all a good holiday but will not be revisiting.
The cottage was absolutely lovely! Everything you needed. So quiet, wake up to the sound of horses was lovely. In the country so have to drive but not too far to go crabbing in wells. About 45 minute drive. The owners so welcoming. Would definitely recommend for a family.
Andrea
This cottage is advertised as accommodating 67 people it does not! Sleeping arrangements are poor there is one adequate double bedroom and one room with twin beds that are actually beds but the third bedroom is very poor indeed with 'beds' on the floor under the eves of the roof. The stair case to the mezzanine floor very steep and frankly quite frightening to use. The kitchen is overall well equipped but the toaster could be upgraded from 2 slice to at least a 4 slice toaster to accommodate 67 visitors. The lighting in the living room was either too bright there are just too many ceiling lights or not bright enough if the table lamp is used another lamp in the living room would make some difference but there are limited sockets in this room that may be the cause of this problem. The furniture is dated and the leather look plastic sofa's are damaged and could be upgraded also.
Matthew
We had a great time at Stable Cottage. There is a great space downstairs with a large well equipped kitchen, lovely lounge and large main bedroom Our children enjoyed regular trips to the horses and chickens in the safe and secure garden. The things we did struggle with was the low headroom when climbing the stairs and the creakiness of the upstairs floors. We still had a wonderful time and it was easy to visit High Lodge Thetford on the way and Wells Next The Sea on day two.
Nicola
We had a wonderful time. It was a lovely and peaceful place. Children enjoyed the outside space and the chickens and horses. We would definitely return.
Carole
Stable cottage was a beautiful well equipped barn conversion. We had a great time meeting up with our Norfolk based family there.
The cottage was a little more remote than we had anticipated with very narrow lanes around it but it had good access to A47 which took us pretty much everywhere we needed to go and a newly built Coop with petrol forecourt were very useful. There were an additional 2 holiday apartments opposite stable cottage both occupied but we heard nothing from them. The cottage itself was beautiful and really wellequipped with many additional features not listed games, iron and ironing board, bakeware, barbecue and huge Amerucanstyle fridge freezer.. There was ample storage throughout in genuine period furniture. The housepet was an unexpected addition look up to the beautiful vaulted and beamed ceiling to see him. Don't worry, he won't cause any harm! As this was accomodation for 7 people, we would have appreciated a second bathroom shower room or at least another toilet. This is really nit picking, but the knives were pretty unusable totally blunt and no vegetable, paring or serrated bread knife. We did struggle preparing meals with them! But as I said nit picking. Watching our dogs skid like Bambi on the laminate floors gave us an inordinate amount of pleasure! The kitchen and stone floors were amazing with two sets of patio doors leading to the courtyard garden which is considerably more established than the photos imply especially from the outside of the cottage. The grounds were beautiful and we really enjoyed visiting the horses. This was our second Sykes holiday and we remain very impressed with the quality and personal touches of your cottages. Better than other companies we have used before and the Norfolk guide emailed by Sykes ahead of our holiday was very useful. Highly recommended. Thank you Sykes.
The cottage was very nice in a good area and the grounds were very nice. The owners of the cottage were very nice and helpful and overall a good place to have a break.
Katrina
Little bit more remote than we realised. But all good. Would go back. Would recommend.
Charlotte
Nicely equipped house and toasty warm, which was lovely as we have frozen in others! We were three adults, 4 yr old and a baby and I think that capacity was pretty good. The stairs are more of a ladder and there is not space for a stair gate so I would recommend it for older children.
