Grosvenor House Reviews

We stayed as a large family over Christmas and we had a wonderful time. The house was stunning an was decorated for Christmas. It felt warm an cosy when we arrived, it didn't feel like a holiday let, it felt like a home. Beds were comfortable, sheets and towels clean and soft. They even provided flannels, hand soap & shower gel. The kitchen had everything we needed, it didn't have ladle to seve one of our dinners but it's not the end of the world, we just improvised and it's not a reason to give a negative review like I've seen people do all because of personal preference. The property owner left us a Christmas card, shortbread biscuits, wine and chocolate which was a very thoughtful gesture and we thoroughly enjoyed them. We had a lovely family Christmas at Grosvenor House & I would definitely book to stay in this property again.

We were disappointed with Grosvenor House. It did not match up to our expectations based on previous properties that we have stayed in. We had an issue with the top floor bathroom ,where both plugs were seized open. Even after a phone call to the owner we ended up sorting this out ourselves. The kitchen was not well enough equipped for our group of 10 to prepare and cook meals from scratch, there were no serving spoons or casserole dishes. We had to buy the extra things we needed. The dish washer did not work very well, and this resulted in us having to rewash much of the time. The dining room was adequate to sit 10, but if the house was full to it's advertised 12 occupants then 2 people would be relegated to the kitchen. Likewise it was not possible for us all to sit in the lounge at the same time, whilst this might not necessarily be a problem as the older members of the party liked to retire to sit quietly in their rooms, the lack of any chairs upstairs made this difficult. There was a lack of storage in the bedrooms and the bathroom door in the ensuite had no handle or lock, loud singing was required when this was occupied. The advertised parking space was not big enough for a car, and the court yard was a tiny space reached by a huge step up from the dining room. These are not the standards we have come to expect from Sykes properties.
This was a beautiful house that had a really lovely feel to it. We were a party of 12, 6 adults and 6 children and there was plenty of room for us all, it had everything we needed and more. It was within walking distance to the beautiful beach and arcade where we spent most days. Also only 20 min drive to Yarmouth where we also went and a 5 min drive to Ness point where we went to watch the sunrise which I would highly recommend. I would recommend this place and hope to return next year.
I contacted Sykes through the portal to let them know our about our stay, I don't know if they have contacted the owner, however, this was our stay at Easter. Intermittent Internet on TV, I did contact the owner, unfortunately I was contacted on the morning we were leaving. Balustrade not connected to hand rail on first landing, health and safety issue. Large old cobwebs with dead spiders, in rooms and behind blinds Filthy windowsill in ensuite bathroom Parking on the front is big enough for a Smart Car, we have a Yaris and couldn't use the space. Hairs on bedding Dripping tap in kitchen Lock on downstairs loo does not work Choroded plugs in sink Middle bathroom, hot water tap is loose Hot water is very hot, no warning signs. It says it sleeps 12 however, insufficient seating in front room. Everyone should be able to sit somewhere comfortable, we had to take in deck chairs from our car. Dried out air fresheners all over the house. Refuse bin was already full, there was nowhere to put our rubbish. Not enough adequate cooking utensils, no baking trays, no jugs, not enough crockery for 12 people. There needs to be an inventory check. Front door is poor condition and easy to gain access In our opinion there seems to have been no care or attention to the property for a while, bearing in mind this is being marketed to the paying public as home from home.
