Seadrift Reviews

Andrew
This is a lovely place. We come twice a year. The view over the marshes is the best thing. The Marsh Harriers are a wonderful sight. The only problem is we are beginning to outgrow it as a family. When it was just us and the children and their partners it was fine. We now have five grandchildren and a sixth expected soon. But we love Seadrift.
We have thoroughly enjoyed spending a week in Seadrift. Its a comfortable and spacious house, everything was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The lovely view from the back of the house was a bonus! Wed certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in the area. We could walk to the local pub, The Ship, which was welcoming and we enjoyed two meals there. The tiny Dunwich Museum, just across the road is a must see.
Lorraine
The upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms were excellent but the downstairs bedrooms need some upgrading and replacement of furniture and bathroom fittings. Wardrobe in front bedroom unusable, toilet seats in both downstairs need replacing. In every other respect the house was lovely and was perfect for our family getaway.
Lindsay
The house, parking and garden are amazing. We had a wonderful short break with 3 of the party needing walking aids so it was idea with the down stairs bedrooms and being able to park on the drive. The view from the patio seating area was really fabulous. Really close to The Ship and not too far from the lovely Flora's tea room with fantastic parking and amazing fish and chips.
Seadrift is in an amazing location and we had a fantastic weekend. The property had everything we needed and we would certainly go back again. The fact that the pub 'The Ship' is about 100 metres away and the beach is round the corner with a cafe that does great breakfasts really made it memorable.
Alison
What a beautiful house. We loved the the space. There was plenty of cutlery, crockery, saucepans etc and actual sharp knives! These items are sadly missing in many holiday homes. The housekeeping team need to be mentioned. The house was immaculate! We loved the beach being so close and a lovely pub serving very nice food I took one star off because a couple of the beds were not that comfortable and some of the pillows could do with being replaced. All in all though we loved our time at Seadrift and it stays on our list to visit again
Pamela
A lovely house with stunning views. It had fantastic facilities and comfortable furnishings which were very clean. We enjoyed going on long walks along the beach before breakfast each morning. An ideal place to celebrate a special family birthday.

Seadrift is a great property in a lovely location and a part of Suffolk we will definitely revisit. Stayed for a week for the first time as three families. 6 adults and 3 young children plus dogs. House is certainly large enough for everyone to have plenty of room inside and out. Grandchildren loved the deck and garden and was nice to sit out on the deck in the afternoonevening. The property has everything you could need for a comfortable stay and looks like it has been recently decorated. Very clean and tidy on arrival. Upstairs floorboards rather creaky but thats the only thing. Great location for the beach which we visited most days, just a short walk down the road. Theres ample parking off road for 3 cars which is ideal as I think Dunwich beach would be very popular in the summer. Owner was very responsive when contacted. Really couldnt ask for anything more and would happily stay here again. Thank you.
Deborah
The location of the property was ideal for a group of friends getting together to celebrate New Year. The layout is also ideal as the ground floor flows meaning you can be in the lounge but also in earshot of those in the kitchen. The property however, is in need of some refurbishment and in particular the bedrooms and ensuites. We were in one of the upstairs bedrooms and the ensuite not only smelt musty but the toilet seat was broken as was a toilet roll holder in the downstairs bathroom. I had previously asked about hairdryers and been told there were 2 at the beginning of the season. I only found 1 there may have been another one somewhere but nowadays this is an expected item in all bedrooms. There has obviously been a leak as there is a large water stain area on the ceiling in the entrance hall. Not a very nice welcome. We were unable to open either of the french doors off the dining area and the windows were filthy. The oven whilst clean inside was not on the outside and it would be useful to only have saucepans which actually work on the induction hob. Paintwork generally is in need of some tlc. The kitchen was well equipped possibly a few extra plates bowls would have been useful but otherwise we had everything we needed. The Christmas tree in the lounge was a nice touch.
Robert
Lovely property, peaceful and well equipped.
On the whole the property is very good, it could definitely do with some redecorating in places particularly the entrance hall where there's been a leak and some items of furniture are a little tired but overall would not let that detract from the stay. Was well equipped, super clean, brilliant location with fabulous views. The listing needs to make it clear that the utility is outside of the house in the garage. Also none of the ceiling lights worked in the lounge, we did ring the housekeeper to report this but didn't hear back.On balance would definitely book again

I had such high hopes for Seadrift after seeing the beautiful photos of it on the website. Upon arrival it was clear that the photos had been taken several years before. It is a very tired house that's in need of repair and a repaint. The entrance lobby has paint peeling on the ceiling following a leak from the shower above which was a shock to see. One toilet seat was broken and another one was very loose. Only one bedroom had a decent wardrobe. Two small cupboards on the landing were the only storage space for the two bedrooms upstairs. The BBQ that I was planning to use was old, filthy and not usable. The saucepans were not compatible with the induction hob, although the owner was very quick to replace them once she became aware of the problem. Views from the garden were stunning and being so close to the beach was such a treat. As a family we've had a tough year and I wanted to spoil everyone with a holiday in a beautiful house unfortunately I was very disappointed.
Ursula
Great location, beautiful view from the back of the house. Beds very comfy, limited space to hang clothes in upstairs bedrooms. Well equipped kitchen, although the saucepans are not compatible with the induction hob, plenty of cutlery, cutlery and glasses. Outdoor area only has seating for six, so more chairs would be good. We would definitely stay at Seadrift again.
Great house, really close to the beach and brilliant views over the marsh all the way to Southwold. Excellent outside space every meal taken outside on the decking. Plenty of good local walks. Might be a completely different experience if poor weather. House contents provied every thing we needed.
Sheila
Could be cleaner, especially in the bathrooms. Not enough mugs for eight of us. One was already broken. Garden rather neglected.
Rosalyn
A spacious property set in an attractive location, Seadrift was a great relaxing place to spend our annual family holiday.
Such a lovely place to stay. The views were stunning, and the house was light, bright, warm and comfy. What's not to like? We've already booked for next year.
A beautiful well equipped cottage in a superb location. Unfortunately, when stripping our bed we discovered we had been sleeping on a disgustingly filthy mattress hence the low score for cleanliness.
Annette
Generally a very welcoming holiday house ,clean and a pleasure to go back too ... Generally a very welcoming holiday house ,clean and a pleasure to go back too after a day out ,plenty of kitchen equipment , warm and cosy even though it was huge in size
Perfect property for our group spacious, comfortable great dining table to sit around and chat or play games. Excellent standard of cleanliness.
Ran out of hot water every day so I think the boiler timings need adjustment
Stephanie
Lovely spacious property with all the facilities needed, and ideally placed for exploring. it was a warm house with plenty of hot water. The ovens heated up quickly and everything worked! Nice touch to have the welcome biscuits and coffee pods thank you. The negatives are small... The keysafe was small and fiddly to operate, especially in the dark. The bedrooms upstairs seem lacking in furniture maybe it accommodates camp beds etc and would have been nice to have hanging space in the room rather than on the landing. The whole house needs some TLC, it could be an absolutely stunning place it just feels unloved tat the moment. The paintwork is shabby in certain areas, cracks in walls and the showers need a blinking good clean the grouting is dark in places and the doors and showerheads have quite a lot of limescale. In the downstairs bathroom the bath panel had come away and was just propped against the bath no information given that they were awarework in progress. That aside, we would recommend the house and location and would keep the details for a future visit.
Kayleigh
A lovely house, beautiful view, big bedrooms, great open plan living area. The only downside was the hot water turning off in the day, it didnt get turned on before the babies were being bathed.
guerite
We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It's clean and well equipped. The garden was a bit overgrown when we arrived, the gardener came a couple of days later and cut the grass etc.
Lovely property. Second stay here first in the winter so great to be able to sit on decking and look out across the marshes this time. Really clean, great quality bedding and towels and well equipt kitchen. Great that each room has own bathroom facilities. Downstairs bedroom and ensuite perfect for elderly mum with mobility issues. Parking for at least 3 cars which really needed in Dunwich especially at weekends. Loved it all! Thank you!
Very lovely holiday destination enjoyed by us all. Very comfortable and well presented. Could do with a bread basket and trays. Please thank Jacqui the housekeeper for sorting us out on the Monday when the beds had not been separated as requested. Sleeping arrangements make a big difference when you're in your 80's! Small problem with the key safe the cover is most awkward to fit back into place. Otherwise a great time had by all. Many thanks.
Had a lovely Christmas at Seadrift. Thank you for the welcome gifts. We found the house very comfortable and sociable for our group. We loved the sofas and the log burner. It was generally very clean although some of the skirting boards and corners could do with a bit of attention I do have high expectations for cleanliness!. The large baking trays which we needed for our Christmas dinner were well past their best but the foil kindly left for us sorted that out. Were hoping to book again for next year but sadly not available!
A lovely place to stay. Very cosy and comfortable. Just short of one or two basics in the kitchen water jug, pans etc.
Beautiful house lovely position walking distance to the beach and Ship Public House. We always stay in Southwold so lovely to move along the coast. We will return to lovely Dunwich and Seadrift.
This is our 5th visit. Disappointed in the state of the gardens . We had lovely weather but there were only six chairs on the patio and we were eight! Wooden patio was lethal, so slippery and needed cleaning Settees not comfortable and so slippery Shower in upstairs shower room excellentb
Second visit to this property and once again it was perfect for us its quite difficult to find a property with three double bedrooms with ensuites and this house is well laid out. Plenty to see and do close by and the local pubs are very good.
Happy to book again for a holiday on Suffolk coast.
