The Old Rectory Tattingstone Reviews

Michelle
What a fab house! 26 people for my husband's 60th birthday weekend and the house is so big we never felt on top of each other. So well equipped for families and especially children. Aside from the game's room there were lots of games, puzzles and books to play with. The house is in a lovely village and in walking distance of Alton water where we had a family stroll. Some of the family also stopped off at the local pub and said what a feel it had and great ales. So many positives for this house to list ..We all had a fantastic family celebration weekend. Huge thanks to the property manager John for all his help on arrival, a lovely man
Jen
This was a wonderful party house and worked really well for our group of twenty-four adults. As other reviews have said, it is very spacious, well equipped, warm and comfortable but don't expect luxury! A bit shabby in places maybe and in need of some love and attention but we had a great time there and would happily go again if we wanted to stay in the area on another occasion. And if you do have children - the garden is absolutely huge!!
Leslie
Excellent venue for large gatherings. Plenty of cutlery a crockery .
Sam
Some folk say the furniture is a little tired but truthfully we all loved the charm of the place. It would feel weird with new stuff. It was clean and tidy and all the rooms came with fresh towels. Plenty of space for folk to spread out and not feel on top of one another, amazing garden space too. John was super lovely in helping us make sure we didn't leave anything behind. Will hopefully book again some time in the future. Really enjoyed our stay.
Toni
We all had a fabulous time. In full honesty, the property could use a little updating, but it was clean and comfortable and well equipped, so no complaints!
Hilary
We celebrated our golden wedding there with 3 generations of family ages ranging from 14 to 82. There was something for everyone. The younger generation loved the games room and their own seating area. We oldies also had a choice of seating areas where we could chat and catch up. John, the manager, was very helpful and welcoming. All in all this property is definitely a great place for a muli generational holiday.
Pauline
Brilliant house for our multi generation family. 23 very happy people from great gran to our 5 year old. Well equipped, comfy and very very spacious
Adele
We had a great time and loved the house. The children had a fantastic time in the garden and games room, as did the adults!
Catherine
We had a fantastic long weekend at The Old Rectory. Our family group of 16 adults and 10 children fitted in perfectly with no issues. We had everything we needed with clear information. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and were out in the lovely garden mostly but would have been fine indoors too. We loved the games room and the children had a few good games of hide and seek. Everyone is up for a return visit
Denise
Fantastic property!! The house is perfect for a family get together as the kids can really enjoy the full run of the lovely garden whilst the adults enjoy the outdoor seating. The walk round the reservoir to the cafe is perfect - just far enough to reach there for lunch. The White Horse pub in the village was great for Sunday lunch as well - good food and really welcoming. We were a party aged 4-95 and it was great for all ages.
Anne
Our group of friends stayed at the house at the most freezing time of the year so far. The house was very cosy and warm which was a surprise due to the size of the property. There were 18 of us and there was plenty of room for us not to be tripping over each other. We had a warm welcome upon arrival and a tour around the house. The location of the house was lovely and very convenient. We would certainly look to rent the house again if we were looking to holiday in that area again.
Tom
We had a fabulous week. The property is roomy, warm, comfortable and well equipped. We really liked the location - its very quiet, the reservoir is close by for walks and the coast (Frinton with its lovely beach) less than an hour away.
Kim
We have visited three times and love the facilities for our large group. The property is always decorated nicely for Christmas and we love the games room. The dining table can comfortably seat around 20 guestsâ?¦ although we have managed to squeeze 25 on at times!
Stuart
We were a party of 19 adults and 4 young children. We had a wonderful stay and the games room was such a great facility and focal point for our celebration long-weekend. Don't expect luxury but do enjoy the comfortable and fun ambiance of the house and the spacious rooms. It takes a while to get your bearings as the house is so large. It is absolutely ideal for large family celebrations such as ours. Thoroughly recommended.
Karen
We had an issue with the lock on the front door, but John came and sorted it the following morning. House was very hot, we had to turn the heating down constantly.
Sophie
This was a lovely holiday house for a large group of people.
Samantha
We had a brilliant weekend. 25 people, ages from 16 - 92 and two dogs. Everyone had plenty of room and space. Brilliant location. My only reservation is when the cooker, when cooking for that many people it was not fit for purpose. Would recommend the accommodation but would suggest take aways or eat out, which we did do for 2 of the three nights
Jacqui
This is an excellent place to stay for a large group of people. It is very well equipped has a great dining room and lounge. The games room is amazing and there is a lot of room for parking. It is a great location and John the house manager is very responsive and helpful. It is great value too !
Helen
A lovely house for my 60th birthday weekend, with generous indoor space and gardens in a great location- easy to reach and to use as a base from which to explore a wide variety of interesting and attractive destination. The games room is a great resource. John, the house manager could not have been more helpful and I definitely felt we were â??in good handsâ??.
Sara
We had a wonderful long weekend here. The venue is great, loads of space for everyone both to be together but also to have quiet time. It's well equipped, clean and comfortable, while also being just the right side of shabby to be relaxed. Really helpful communication in advance. Three bedrooms are twins with no ensuite but one nearby shared bathroom (we somehow couldn't quite work this out in advance from the floor plans). The garden is huge although the ground is very uneven. One guest was a wheelchair user and the ground floor was sufficiently accessible. The four year old enjoyed the rather rickety pedal car etc. The location is really perfect as there are so many walks nearby without a car, or a short drive away. A stall just round the corner was selling farm produce which helped top up our shopping with eggs and veg etc. Overall a lovely, quiet and rural environment for our celebration, easy to get to from London and elsewhere.
Graham
This was a great house for a family meet up, lots of space inside and out. Large games room/lounge enabled us to all socialise together and for all ages groups. Excellent variety of activities close by including Jimmy's farm, watersports and walks.
Eric
The Old Rectory Tattingstone provided an ideal base for our group of sixteen "over-sixties". We were all able to have an ensuite room. The library, and the dining room were rooms where we all of us could gather together, but the range of other communal areas meant that everyone could find their own space if they wanted to. The games room, with air hockey, pool, table football and table tennis was very popular. The lake is a short walk away, as is the White Horse, which coped well with our large group for Sunday lunch.
Karen
Huge house, all bedrooms large. Plenty of communal space. 3 large fridges. Beautiful location within walking distance of 2 pubs, and some lovely walks directly from the house. John the house manager was very welcoming, and very helpful. Would return.
James
There were 23 of us ranging from 8 to 80 years old and this house was perfect.
D
We loved the house. It was very comfortable and in a lovely, peaceful location. We would definitely book again.
